Renovation of Kyomachiya
We renovated the office of “Éclat Japon”.
This Kyo-machiya, a traditional town house in Kyoto, was built about 100 years ago.
First step, the tatami
With his expert eye, the craftsman of “tatami” specifies that they are real tatami made from rare straw.
Nowadays, many tatami mats are made from chemical fible.
Second step, sliding doors.
Once retyped, they have returned to their original white color!
Third step, Shoji. They are sliding doors.
“Shoji” craftsman has adjusted Japanese sliding doors with the help of adapted his tools.
Last step, kitchen.
This one is of modern style, while keeping the height of origin of the ceiling.
In the traditional Kyomachiya house, you can experience Japanese cultures.
As for example, the tea ceremony, the flower arrangement, the koto instrument, the Japanese cuisine, etc.
